Canadian Air-Crane
Ltd.
Canadian Air-Crane Ltd. is a division of Erickson Air-Crane
Incorporated.
Erickson Air-Crane grew out of the Erickson family business,
which had generations of experience in the timber industry.
With the purchase of two S-64 Skycranes in 1971, Erickson
Lumber Company expanded into heavy-lift helicopter logging
and became Erickson Air-Crane Ltd.
Since that time the company has conducted successful operations
in the Pacific Northwestern of the United States, Canada,
and in the tropical forests of Malaysia and Indonesia.
Canadian Air-Crane has operated on the British Columbia
coast for more than 25 years. We are considered leaders in
the helicopter industry for our innovations with standing
stem harvesting. In this process,
a tree or "stem" is plucked from the
forest stand in its original state. Today, we are
ready to launch a further innovation to this
process. For individual "stems" that were considered too
large to pluck in a single
piece we, have developed the ability to cut off the top logs
while leaving the remaining stem in tact. This new approach
recovers the most value and highest grade from the stand.
In recent years we have expanded our operations into BC's
Interior region with the introduction of buncher harvesting.
This concept was developed at Powell River where we originally
flew a TK1162 in seven pieces onto a conventionally inaccessible
site. Again we were able to prove that our Erickson S-64
Aircrane has a place throughout the province defying
the claims that we were "too big." With the
right payload under the Erickson S-64 Aircrane, we are the
most efficient mover in
the helicopter industry.
